In the now classic style that awoke a passion for sauvignon blanc in the U.S. decades ago, the 2017 Fumé Blanc displays aromatic, white summer peaches with juicy Meyer lemon citrus, tangerine zest and a hint of gooseberry in each refreshing, mouthwatering sip.

Vintage:

The 2017 harvest started early following a summer of heat spikes and a growing season that began with significant rain, ending a five-year drought. While the heat waves were a concern, retained water in the quenched soils helped us maintain vigorous vines and plump, juicy clusters of fruit through the growing season. A series of wildfires at the beginning of October made international headlines, but the early harvest ensured the majority of our grapes were picked and already processed in the cellar before the fires began. The grapes for our richly expressive Fumé Blanc were picked between August 16th and September 13th.

Vineyards:

We take full advantage of the complementary characteristics of the fruit from our Wappo Hill vineyard in the Stag’s Leap District and our renowned To Kalon vineyard in Oakville. Together, they produce the perfect blend. We look to Wappo Hill for the bright citrus and herbal flavors as well as its classic Sauvignon Blanc lift. Our gorgeous To Kalon vineyard fruit supplies richness, weight, age-ability and increased complexity, bringing in layers of floral, tropical, and mineral flavors to the blend.
